While it is a unique experience with every client and their individual requirements, I usually meet the client in the potential space for a consultation. There we discuss goals. I feed off of your enthusiasm and ideas, and love when clients feel safe enough to trust me with their inspirations.

I start with schematic designs that include floor plans with furniture, and sketches or inspirational pictures that assists me in creating a holistic vision of the ultimate goal. I also include a preliminary selection of materials that enhance and emphasize my vision.

Once I understand how the space is meant to look, feel and function, I make final selections and complete any final drawings, if required. Depending on your package, I may procure items, have them shipped and stored before the final installation. I can also participate in Construction Administration and Project Management as needed.

If you’ve never hired a designer, you’re probably wondering just exactly what it’s like. What do designers do? What should you be doing? Here are some good ideas.

I will propose a flat fee for the design package that’s right for you.

What I will do is provide a proposal of my design fees – up front. Should the scope of work change, or if I’m asked to carry out additional services, I will discuss this with you prior to charging more fees.

I love this question, mainly because there is no single correct answer! My job is to work with your style. I have several preferred looks. However, my preferences won’t be the same as yours. And that’s okay!

At the start of our journey, I’ll begin to discover your preferences. I’ve had clients who knew exactly what they liked and others who were a blank slate. It’s my job to figure out your preferred style(s), even if you don’t know what it is at this point in time!

It depends. Most of the wholesale vendors we work with do not accept returns. That is why we work extra hard in the design phase to communicate to you both verbally and visually what each piece will be like. If you are concerned about a sofa being comfortable, for example, we will take you to the showroom so you can try it out.
